Chances to connect meaningfully with people and your own amazing aliveness are woven into the fabric of everything.
Great opportunities for such things do come in the form of retreats and large events, but the habits and relationships we cultivate every single day – while often far less glamorous and shiny – are the forces that most profoundly bring us alive, free us to act with courage and trust when we’re afraid, and deepen our capacity to give and take-in love.
No weekend event can hold a candle to that power.
Are you new here? If so, welcome! This post is a great distillation of what I believe about trust. For a free book that exemplifies what trust tending means, click here. I’m so glad you stopped by!

Everything Belongs
Seasons are universal. Treat yours uniquely.

Thanks for that, Kristin – makes me feel better about having missed WDS!
Comment by Helen (Dixon Hill Girl) — July 10, 2012 @ 2:57 pmOh my goodness – i love this, Kristin. Love it!!!
I can’t get to every event, but i can get to every moment of my own life. Thanks for the reminder of how precious daily life is, my own daily life. Right here, right now. My personal connections here in my hometown are fantastic.
Comment by GailNHB — July 10, 2012 @ 2:59 pmLove this- such a beautiful illustration and a great reminder. Thank you for sharing your talents as always!
Comment by Amanda @ Click. The Good News — July 10, 2012 @ 3:51 pmI’m glad our recent “big event” gave me the opportunity to meet you in person after following your blog and reveling in your wisdom for awhile. Still, I agree with you. A retreat helps us stop, notice and nourish ourselves. But a weekend won’t sustain us if we don’t take what we learn into our everyday lives. And we don’t need the weekend to stop, notice, and nourish ourselves. Thanks for reminding us of that.
Comment by Mary Montanye — July 10, 2012 @ 5:12 pmWhat a great reminder! I needed that as I’m back to the day job this week and, even though I love my job, it makes it easy to get busy and lose sight of what’s most important.
Comment by Karen Coverett — July 10, 2012 @ 11:02 pmOh, and the partying ants completely made me giggle out loud on the bus ride home after work. I love the little details you always include.
Oh my goodness, this is exactly what I needed to see first thing this morning. I have been hearing all about the WDS (with unflattering waves of envy). And there are at least 4 other Big Events coming soon that I’ve been invited to, that I wish I could attend – retreats, coaching jumpstarts, soulful teachings, etc.
Meantime, it’s all I can muster right now to maybe carve out a tiny staycation semi-retreat here at home.
Pretty disheartening, until reading this and remembering (smacks forehead V-8 style) of course! My real life, just as it is, is my teacher, coach, nurturer, inspiration.
Thank you so much, Kristin!
Comment by Beth — July 11, 2012 @ 5:50 amI just wanted to randomly tell you that I am in LOVE with your drawings. I’m always so curious to find out what the next one is going to be about. :) They just have this sense of peace and happiness about them that makes them unique.
Comment by Bright Little Socks — July 12, 2012 @ 1:39 pmI just really really love this post – and I’m so glad to have met you at the event that we did both manage to attend. :) Going off to explore your lovely site.
