For anyone questioning their disorienting moves away from something life-taking
and toward something better,
For anyone weary of sticking with the known
at the expense of something your soul has long been asking you to do,
For anyone ready to step off their personal grid of hopelessness
or cynicism
or jealousy
or apathy
or distrust
and into a landscape far more vast and invigorating:
Maybe getting lost is the most important thing you could ever do.

WOW. I had to read each sentence twice. This is my life right now. This made such a connection with me. For the past year and a half I’ve left the “comfort” of my practical job and jumped into my painting. It’s where my heart is but it’s not puting lotsa money in the bank, but it’s my dream and my calling. Thank you for putting it so succinctly.
Comment by Jill — January 21, 2011 @ 3:09 amJill, I’m inspired to hear about what you’ve done. Thank you for sharing! It makes me think about there being 2 kinds of home: a heart home (“I’m doing what I feel most called to do”), and a social/physical kind of home. I want to think much more about this…maybe my thoughts will be a post come Monday.
Comment by Kristin — January 22, 2011 @ 11:07 amI’m lost all the time. And I always see it as a bad thing, maybe I need to see it as away IN instead a way OUT.
Comment by Kat — February 5, 2011 @ 10:37 amI love that switch of metaphor, Kat.
