I, for one, want you, the whole you, and nothing but you!! In whatever in-betweens you're inhabiting, in whatever blog and clothes and life practices you dream of and create!

One correction on my suggestion list - the skirts I like are not Lei, but Sunny Leigh. Saw a few on sale at Macy's today and thought of you. Some corduroy skirts at Ralph Lauren marked down to $35 as well - in tan, chocolate brown, and black. Hope you have fun. I know it's easy for me to say with a 14 year old and an 11 year old, but I will encourage you to be patient with yourself and with them during these first few outings.

When I went out with my two little people earlier on, I made sure the baby was well-nursed, the toddler had had a good nap and a treat, and promised my 3 year old daughter all kinds of fun when we got home - if she gave me a few minutes to look for a few things at the mall. Most times it worked. I encourage you to be sure to get something, even if it's only a few pairs of socks and undies. You deserve a treat, you really do.

Please let me know how it goes. I'll be thinking of and praying for you.

Atticus, thank you! "Continue to write" feels like an overstatement from where I sit this night, but I love the spin, and will gladly take the label.

Gail, thank you!! I'm intending to shop a little bit this week, and every time I think about it, I get depressed at knowing my chances of finding things that fit is so low. - and all the more so, knowing what an effort it is to even get out and look for a few minutes with a couple of little kids. Your leads give me a little hope!

Fraternal twins separated at birth, I take it!

Here are a few clothing tips that have worked well for me: Aerosoles boots: check out the "Flamcoyant" boot on their website. Super comfortable and cute too. Nordstroms BP ballet flats in lots of solid colors in our size. Ralph Lauren, Liz Claiborne, Eddie Bauer, and Lei skirts (I've found the best deals at the end of the summer and winter seasons. Not long ago, I bought two ankle-length Ralph Lauren denim skirts for $16 each at Macy's.). Lots of t-shirts and turtle necks under denim jackets. Gap jeans, size 8 long. But mostly I wear skirts; pants are simply too hard to find in the right length and fit.

Sleep in heavenly peace...

Robin, baby holders while I get to sit in silence sounds like a taste of heaven. Thank you for the lead. I'll have to ponder how the commute (I think it'd be about 45 minutes or more?) could be made equally serene with both kids.

Gail, it's wonderful to have someone so totally understand the clothing dilemma! I have a 36" inseam as well, am an 8 or 10, and have size 11 feet! Don't even get me started on how rediculous I felt in all my maternity clothes...

I love your list of things to do, too. I think I'll get started on #1 right now! :)

Thanks for sharing your questions, dreams, desires, needs, and plans with us. And thanks for joining in the cosmic howl for clothing that fits the taller ones among us. Hear, hear! Or is it here, here!?! I am 5'10" tall, have a 36" inseam, wear size 8 or 10 clothing, and size 11 shoes. It's not easy clothing this body. I wear a lot of a-line skirts, ballet flats, and boots. Yes, clothes matter. So do shoes and hats and scarves and earrings and bras that fit. Yes, indeed.

In the meantime, hang in there. Sleep. Pray. Play. Rest. Eat. Drink. Meditate. Write. Create. Be. Do. Live. Cry. Laugh. Love. All and nothing. In between.

Best wishes. My advice is make the lists but don't actually commit to much yet.
Take your time.

Let me also remind you that our Quaker meeting has childcare, including very competent baby holders. You don't actually have to practice Quakerism to sit for an hour in the silence with God, but it helps to have baby holders. Whenever you're ready.
