OH MY GOSH! I went on a Teen Missions trip too! Go Brazil '88! And yes, my children will not be doing the same thing. If they want to see Brazil, I will take them myself.

Oh yeah, I'd rather go to a hardware store than a clothing store ANY day!

I'll get right on it, and try to think of 5 things you don't know about me...

Yeah, I've been tagged. Five things you may not know about me:

1. I spent a semester studying Spanish, art history, and Spanish men in Spain while I was in college and later talked myself into a teaching job where I taught middle school Spanish despite having a very poor grasp of the language. It was only when I began to teach that I became fluent in Spanish. I still feel badly for those students I taught early in my career. I had no idea what I was doing.

2. When I was a child, the only thing I wanted to be was a wife and mother. If anyone asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I said I wanted to be a doctor, but deep inside, the only thing I wanted was to have kids of my own. I now have two children that I love dearly and am glad that dream came true.

3. My greatest fear in life is not being able to feed my children. I worry that something will go terribly wrong in our lives or in our country or in the world, and I will not be able to provide for my kids. I know that there are women all over the world who don't have enough for their families, and it horrifies me to think that we could end up in the same situation.

4. I have a very, very, very strong addiction to sweets; my sweet tooth is nearly insatiable. I could eat candy and drink soda all day long. I used to do that... until I realized that it was going to doom my waistline and my bloodline. White mochas at Starbucks, Snickers bars, red australian licorice, and milk chocolate pecan clusters are some of my favorite indulgences. Fortunately, I have learned the dangers inherent in my nasty habit and have learned to control it.

5. I have a tendency towards obsessive behavior. If I start to follow a certain exercise regime, eating plan, reading pattern, or journaling schedule, I can easily get obsessive about not wanting to change the habit. I can sometimes be compulsive about spelling, grammar issues, punctuation, and things like that as well. I have to fight hard not to allow my compulsions to take over me. Perfectionism can be a burden.
